Questions

Is my brief stored?

Not unless you save it. Text and files are processed in memory and discarded when the report is returned. Only counts are logged. Signed in, you can save a brief to your account, encrypted, and delete it any time. Privacy.

What can it not check?

Westlaw and Lexis identifiers, about a quarter of the citations in filed briefs. They are listed as unverifiable, never flagged. Statutes, regulations and secondary sources are not checked either. Coverage.

What is the deep check?

For every citation the register resolves, a judgment model reads the opinion and answers one question: does it say what you cited it for. At the confidence the report shows, it confirms 55.0% of good citations and marks a wrong passage as support for 4.5% of wrong pairs, so it is shown as a review queue with the passage, not as a verdict. What does pay as you go cost in practice?

$0.50 per check, whatever its length, plus $0.05 for every citation the deep check reads when you switch it on. A typical brief has 40 citations: $0.50 for the check, $2.50 with the deep check. Usage is metered by Stripe and billed at the end of the month; the account page shows the running total. Past about 60 checks a month, Solo is cheaper.

How do I pay, and how do I cancel?

Card, through Stripe. Cancel from the account page; the plan runs to the end of the period you paid for. Invoices are in the billing portal. Teams that need an invoice instead of a card: hello@proofread.law.

Is this legal advice?

No. It is a proofreader for citations. Read the authority before you rely on it.
